Frequently Asked Questions
How does this test work?
The kit detects Pregnancy-associated Glycoproteins (PAGs) in bovine serum, plasma, or whole blood. PAGs are placental biomarkers that rise significantly during early pregnancy, enabling accurate pregnancy diagnosis.
How long does the test take? When should I read the results?
Results are ready in 15–20 minutes after adding the sample and diluent. Do not interpret results after 30 minutes, as they may become invalid.
What sample types are accepted? Are there special handling requirements?
Compatible samples include:
- Serum/Plasma: Collect after full coagulation. Store at 2–8°C for ≤7 days or freeze at ≤-20°C for long-term storage (avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles).
- Whole Blood: Collect in anticoagulant-treated tubes (e.g., EDTA, heparin). For storage, mix with erythrocyte preservation solution (e.g., Alsever’s solution) at a 1:2–4 ratio and keep at 4°C for 1–3 months.
Does the test require specialized equipment?
No. Follow these simple steps:
- Equilibrate reagents and samples to room temperature.
- Add 1 drop of serum/plasma/whole blood to the test cassette well.
- Add 2 drops of diluent to the same well.
- Read results at 15–20 minutes.
How do I interpret the results?
- Positive (Pregnant): Both Test line (T) and Control line (C) are visible.
- Negative (Non-pregnant): Only the Control line (C) appears.
- Invalid: No control line (C) → Repeat the test with a new cassette.
How should I store the kit? What is its shelf life?
- Storage: Keep unopened kits at 2–30°C (35.6–86°F), protected from light, moisture, and extreme temperatures.
- Shelf Life: 12 months from manufacture date (unopened).
- After opening: Use test cassettes immediately to avoid moisture absorption.
What samples may cause inaccurate results?
Avoid using:
- Hemolyzed, turbid, lipemic, or highly viscous samples.
- Improperly stored whole blood (e.g., without preservation solution).
- Repeatedly thawed serum/plasma.
Can I reuse the test cassette?
No. Each cassette is for single-use only. Dispose of used cassettes according to local biohazard guidelines.
Does breed or season affect the results?
The test is breed-independent, as it targets PAGs levels. Ensure samples are collected and processed as per the manual to avoid operational errors.
